The University of Michigan Offers Four-Star Edge Simeon Christopher Burgess Scholarship for Class of 2025

EDGE Simeon, rated four stars Chicago (Illinois) Christopher Burgess, had one of the most rapidly improving recruitments for the entirety of the offseason, as dozens of Power 5 universities competed with one another for his talents. After making his fourth trip to Ann Arbor on Thursday, Burgess finally received an offer from the University of Michigan, which he had yet to receive as of the final week of June.

In the spring, Burgess expressed his admiration for the University of Michigan by saying, “Michigan is one of my favorite schools.” “I have a great deal of respect for both them and the coaching staff. It fills me with joy to observe that they are turning out a significant number of defensive linemen who are going on to play in the league.

During the evaluation process in the spring, Burgess received an increasing number of scholarship offers from major colleges such as Michigan State University, the University of Colorado, the University of Georgia, the University of Tennessee, the University of Alabama, Texas A&M University, the University of Southern California, Miami, Oregon, and Florida.

Even though Michigan did not follow suit at the time, the program continued to show interest in Burgess after he took two unofficial visits during the fall of this past year for games against Maryland (September 24) and Michigan State (October 29). The first trip he ever took was in June of the previous year.

In his statement, Burgess said, “I enjoyed the experience, and it was enjoyable.” “There was a lot of commotion and intense competition. The supporters showed an incredible amount of enthusiasm.

On Thursday, while Burgess and his family were in town, the defensive line coach for the University of Michigan, Mike Elston, was there and offered to Burgess and his family right before they left to go back home. Elston and Chris Bryant, the director of high school connections at the University of Michigan, have been at the forefront of the early efforts to provide the groundwork for a basis for a partnership that is much more robust.

Burgess and Bryant have a unique connection because of their ties at Simeon, from which Bryant graduated in 2011. Burgess also attended Simeon.

Burgess said, “I believe they are competent coaches,” and I agree. They know the subject at hand and can carry out their responsibilities effectively. I had the impression that they liked me, too.

Burgess is one of the five athletes with the highest ranking that the Wolverines have extended scholarships offers. Nine of the thirteen rated Illinois 2025 prospects have received offers from the Wolverines.

Burgess, who has a height and weight of 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is ranked as the No. 115 overall prospect and the No. 10 edge rusher in the country by On3. In addition to that, he is the second-best athlete in the state of Illinois.

Cornerback Chris Ewald Jr. of On300 Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna and rising linebacker Mantrez Walker of Buford (Ga.) High are the two players who have made verbal commitments to the University of Michigan for the class of 2025. The two individuals are currently positioned twelfth overall in the On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings.
